NEWS, VIEWS AND OPINIONS. SERVING THE INFORMED AND PROGRESSIVE HIP HOP COMMUNITY

What Does Camron, Dame Dash and Bill O'Reilly Have in common? Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!

So can Hip Hop slide any deeper down the pit of ignorance and anti-intellectualism? Dame Dash, Camron and Salome Thomas-El were having a “debate on the effects of hip hop culture on black youth” on the Bill O’Reilly Show.  First of all why would they patronize a man who has made a career out of lying and sensationalizing untruths to the American public on just about everything (too many examples to mention) A man how has demonstrated he is against hip hop and the everything about the black culture! Secondly, Dame and Camron debating the effects negative hip hop? Are you kidding me, Camron and his Dipset crew with the sanctioning of Dame have been on a back and forth negative “dissing” campaign against the likes of Jay-Z, Rockafella, and 50 Cent. It has all been negative, senseless, gun talk, murder talk, mixtapes and dvd’s all over the streets, having nothing at all to do with hip hop. Then again, with hip hop records sales continuing to nose dive, with no savior in site, with creativity gone, the dumbing down of our youth, xxl-90-small.jpg its no wonder they would go on the Bill O’lielly show.  It’s all about marketing.

Touché St. Nick Proj, You had me on some points. The stubbornness of the ‘old school” heads I will give you that.. but understanding us “old school heads” have history on our sides due to the fact we have been around long enough to be able to listen to all the phases hip hop has gone through.. from plugging equipment up to light post and having a block party.. to crews rocking in parks.. to battles, to the first mixed tapes break beat mixed by dj’s like Grandwizard Theodore, DJ Breakout, Flash, Kool Herc, grandmaster Caz, Charlie Chase, etc. I respect the fact that your 23 and can have some knowledge of the old school generation but your generation I also guilty of stubbornness because you only deal with what you hear now and cast off the old school as old guys that need to just move on shut up and let this new generation just keep doing what it does. Being appreciative of all phases of hip hop good or bad I embrace both but with criticism. 2nd I don’t understand ju

2nd I don’t understand just because some artist create jobs for the hood that makes it ok? Drug dealers create jobs for the hood every day does that make them good?

Understanding is there my dude feel me I love the old school heads. You mention drug dealers yes they are wrong no doubt. A sad fact is that majority of the hood exit is based on some kind of Illegal money , washington hts majority of business's is funded on Drug money either from co signers etc. and lets not mention DC.

Back on music though my dude , the music scene is different, now the music sucks I cannot argue that , I mean R&B today is crazy , R kelly old ass dressing like a fool , what happened to I believe I can fly days? As for the overall business big difference people is leaving the hoods ....well sought of mental slavery (dependcy do exist ) This whole enviroment (THE POLICTICAL U.S) is birthed on criminal money feel me? I will never cast away a old school dude though my dude . I must admit if that cat is a coke head or whatever then trying to whatever then yeah i'm biased. but overall I would love to talk logic with a old school cat.

PEACE.. that’s the premise of this website. trying to build a bridge between the younger hip hop heads and the older ones.. Dialogue and constructive criticism will assist on fixing wedge and miscommunication that exist.. I believe we all want the same thing.. music we can enjoy and have fun to.. A safe environment to party too.. and a little bit of knowledge to feed the brain that will advance us to whatever progressive level we want to achieve.

Peace People

I surfed the waves on these topics lately because I have been divided in the views attributed on here. I will say something to the Young G , St, Nich (Harlem Whatup!) anyway , I will say you mention people being on drugs and you losing respect or being biased towards them. That is not right , If your daddy is on crack but still doing his thing then he is daddy. If you is on drugs wether it be weed booze , should your seed dismiss you?

In my studies I come to this . Hip hop has EVOLVED now the elders who used to be the radicals are now seeing themselves in a unfamilar position of seeing their experiment go another level.

Well it seems that you St. Nick fell right into the thought process of the article , What dame and them doing that is Hip Hop???? I mean a bridge need to be created spreading logic. I mean the older heads need to stand firm .and get more involved in the game. Make mix tapes featuring artist's with real skills. Sh*t is a KRS opened a lable I bet you tons of New day rappers will be at his door.

I posted but do not see my post . so here I go .

I did'nt fall into no process my dude if you read my statement from Jump i said that Irespect old school music , what i'm implying is this my dude . Rap today is a business. I am not a fan of rap. I, m a fan of the money engine and trust me most these cats out here view that. On old school cats there is no beef with dudes still involved i n the game.

As in the cocaine, drug usage reply to the FORCE, hell yeah if me or anybody else is weak enuff to use the mess then yes your a WEAK individual!!

back on to the old school heads , History is you much love , Old heads get love that actually show love , I 'm not showing love to an arrogant person , kool Herc get love , the R get love , many peoples get love so I do not comprehend the Youth hating the old heads concept. then you have to view the old heads complaining. If they livin foul lives then of course you get

many peoples get love so I do not comprehend the Youth hating the old heads concept. then you have to view the old heads complaining. If they livin foul lives then of course you get no ear from us . if you still contributing and is given CONSTRUCTIVE critisim rather than hater critisim then all respect is due.

Again i feel the debate but Like the blog said is these current heads killing the hip hop vibe, you say it's big business so fourth truthfully your right but another truth exist;s HIP HOP is losing it's creativity , You may not verbally embrace Old school but the actions of todays fashions do . Le Tigre , Jay Z owning pro keds , even the way we rocking our gear (with the exception of hanging straight leg pants , a back in the day way of hiding your highwaters- old heads unite!) the stlyes of yesturday is in effect today due to lack of creativity wihich is part was not a problem with the old school inovative ways of thinking. The money making machine was in part started by Old school , let me drop the science , you see I learn as i Think. Puffy did his tatics using old school r&B beats loop with nice raps, Metaphoric rhymes became a theme again but in minimal because an old school artist's whole song was metaphoric , today is just bland controlling music then you have
